There was protest in the Edo State House of Assembly premises over plans by the lawmakers to repeal the 2023 law which granted them financial autonomy.
The Assembly workers said repealing the law would lead to reduction of their salaries and possible sack.
It was gathered a member of the House, has been penciled to present a motion for the repealing of the bill.
Leadership of the Edo Assembly Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) led by Farouk Haruna, declined comments on the issue.
When contacted for comments, Speaker of the Edo Assembly, Yekini Idaiye, said the lawmakers have been in an Executive Session.
Idaiye said he was not aware of any protest or plan to repeal the bill granting autonomy to the Assembly.
The Speaker said they were about to go into the Chamber as at 2:15pm.
