As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections intensify, a socio-political organisation, Eagle Watch Key, has called on governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and political appointees across the country to intensify efforts toward securing the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The group known for Justice, equity, fairness and the growth of the nation,
also urged APC leaders at both the federal and state levels to translate the increased financial resources available to governments into tangible development projects, empowerment initiatives and programmes capable of improving the living conditions of Nigerians.

National President of Eagle Watch Key, Comrade Kwalekeme Cletus, made the call yesterday in Asaba, Delta State, while addressing journalists on the political situation in the country and the preparations for the 2027 elections.

Kwalekeme said the political process had reached a critical stage, stressing that all stakeholders within the ruling party must work collectively to ensure that the reforms and policies of the Tinubu administration receive the necessary political support ahead of the 2027 polls.

According to him, the responsibility of securing electoral victory for the APC and the President does not rest solely on the Federal Government, but also on governors, political appointees and party leaders who have direct contact with the electorate at the grassroots.

He said, “The political game is now at its crucial stage, and every hand must be on deck to re-elect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whose reforms are changing the narrative of governance in Nigeria.”

The Eagle Watch Key president, however, charged APC governors to consolidate their political standing in their respective states by ensuring that the financial resources accruing to them are effectively deployed to address the needs of the people.

He noted that the increased allocations from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) had placed state governments in a stronger position to execute meaningful projects and implement programmes that could directly impact the lives of citizens.

Kwalekeme stressed that governors who delivered visible infrastructure, improved social services, created employment opportunities and empowered their people would have a stronger basis to seek their support at the polls.

He said tangible achievements at the state and local levels would not only strengthen the political fortunes of the governors but could also help create a positive environment for the President and the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He urged APC governors and federal appointees to work harder, warning that political victory could not be guaranteed merely through party structures without corresponding evidence of good governance and improved welfare.

Kwalekeme said the outcome of the recent Osun State governorship election should serve as a wake-up call to APC leaders, urging them to pay closer attention to the expectations of the electorate.

He maintained that Nigerians needed to feel the impact of government policies and programmes in their daily lives, stressing that improved living conditions remained one of the strongest tools for winning public confidence.

The group also commended the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for what it described as developmental strides in infrastructure and youth employment.

Kwalekeme said the achievements recorded in the areas of infrastructure and youth development in Delta State demonstrated the importance of translating government resources into programmes capable of benefiting the people.

Beyond the 2027 elections, the Eagle Watch Key president called on the leadership of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the Presidential Amnesty Programme to strengthen accountability, transparency and commitment to the welfare of people in the oil-producing region.

He expressed concern over what he described as outstanding payments owed to beneficiaries and contractors under the region’s development and intervention programmes.

According to him, about 80 per cent of ex-militants under the Presidential Amnesty Programme remained unpaid for more than three years, while some contractors were also yet to receive payments for completed or ongoing engagements.
