Africa’s healthcare future needs stronger leadership -H-LEMP Africa

H-LEMP Africa Conference 2026 in Lagos.

Healthcare leaders, policymakers and innovators are set to examine leadership and management gaps affecting Africa’s health systems at the H-LEMP Africa Conference 2026 in Lagos.

The conference, scheduled for October 29 at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, will bring together healthcare executives, chief medical directors, hospital owners, policymakers, entrepreneurs, investors, healthcare professionals and students from across Africa.

A pre-conference masterclass workshop will be held on October 28.

Organisers said the conference would focus on the need for healthcare professionals to develop leadership, entrepreneurial and management skills alongside clinical competence.

They said healthcare systems were facing increasing demands for improved quality, efficiency, innovation and sustainable growth, making it necessary for professionals to acquire skills beyond clinical practice.

“For decades, healthcare education has largely focused on developing clinical competence. However, the realities of modern healthcare increasingly require professionals to manage teams, allocate resources, understand finance, build organisations, navigate technology, develop sustainable business models and lead institutional change,” the organisers said.

The conference will examine issues including healthcare leadership, institutional governance, entrepreneurship, healthcare financing, innovation, digital transformation, artificial intelligence and operational efficiency.

The organisers, Harley and Wall Business and Healthcare Consulting, said they had trained more than 6,000 healthcare practitioners and were expanding their work into a continental platform focused on healthcare leadership, management and entrepreneurship.

The conference is expected to attract representatives from government, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, health technology firms, investment institutions, professional associations, academia, development organisations and healthcare enterprises.

Organisers said the event was designed to encourage a shift from individual professional excellence towards stronger institutions, sustainable healthcare enterprises and wider health-system impact.

The conference is backed by organisations including ProvidusUnity Bank, St. Ives Hospital, MIVA University, Coinage Capital, Leadway, Lifeworth HMO, Access EMR, Loveworld Medical Center, Manifold Leadership, the Nigeria Medical Association and the Association of Nigerian Private Medical Practitioners.

DNA Harley and Rainbow Laboratories, D’BusinessDoctor Mentorship Academy and D’BusinessDoctor Consulting are also supporting the event.

All participants will get a scholarship to study MBA in Healthcare Management, Al Data Analytics etc and other advanced degree programs at Nexford University USA through its partnership with Harley and Wall Consulting.

According to the organisers, H-LEMP Africa is intended to provide a platform for healthcare stakeholders to share practical approaches to strengthening institutions and addressing management challenges across the continent.

The organisers said the focus on leadership was particularly important as healthcare organisations increasingly navigate technological change, financial pressures, workforce demands and the need to provide sustainable services.
