Widows and elderly residents in communities across Ikwerre, Emohua and Ahoada East Local Government Areas of Rivers State have received cash and food donations from the Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT) of OLO Host Communities Development Trust (HCDT), Godwin Ndubuisi Worlu.

The beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as timely amid the economic hardship and rising cost of living confronting many Nigerians.

One of the beneficiaries, Josephine Chukwu, said the support came at a critical time, as many families were struggling to meet their basic needs.

She appealed to Worlu to sustain the initiative, while urging other well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the gesture by supporting vulnerable members of their communities.

A monarch, Eze Godwin Chukwu Eneka Ordu, who spoke on behalf of the elders, also commended Worlu for his intervention, describing it as a demonstration of concern for the welfare of the people.

Worlu, who made the donations during a thank-you visit to the communities, said the gesture was motivated by his love for his constituents and appreciation for their support and cooperation.

The communities visited included Elele Okineali in Ikwerre LGA; Elele Alimini and Omudioga in Emohua LGA; and Okporomini and Eligbo in Ahoada East LGA.

He urged the people to extend the same spirit of cooperation to Aradel Holdings Plc, the multinational company that recently took over the OLO Marginal Fields from TotalEnergies.

According to him, Aradel has the capacity to attract more developmental projects to the host communities if the people provide the necessary support and cooperation.

Worlu said the purpose of his visit was also to formally inform the communities about the transition of the OLO Marginal Fields from TotalEnergies to Aradel Holdings.

He acknowledged that the transition period was challenging, but commended the communities for standing by the HCDT and supporting them through the difficult period.

The BOT chairman assured the people of an inclusive administration, promising that their entitlements and legitimate interests would be addressed without prejudice.
