In a bid to consolidate political support ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Muslim Affairs Directorate of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA), Lagos State, paid a strategic advocacy visit to the renowned Islamic institute, Daru D’Dawah Wal-Irshad, in Isolo, Lagos.
The delegation sought the endorsement and active mobilization of the Islamic institution for the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the gubernatorial ambition of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat.
The delegation was led by the Director of RHA Lagos Muslim Affairs, Alh. Waheed Tella, alongside the Deputy Director, Mr. M.O. Sanni; Secretary, Hajia Aloba Idayah; Media Coordinator, Alh. Tajudeen Uzamot and Supervision Officer, Alh. AbdulWasiu.
The initiative operated under the patronage of the Director General of the group and Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Tayo Akinmade Ayinde.
Addressing the leadership, scholars and students of the institute, Tella outlined the mandate of the group and highlighted the key socio-economic objectives embedded in the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Underscoring the demographic weight of the Muslim community in the state, which he estimated at approximately 15 million out of Lagos’ projected 25 million population, Tella stressed the imperative of electoral participation.
He urged the management of the institute to ensure that all eligible students aged 18 and above obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate fully in the democratic process.
Responding on behalf of the center, the Director of Daru D’Dawah Wal-Irshad, Sheikh Ridwan Zuglool Sanusi, commended the delegation for its proactive voter sensitization drive.
Sheikh Sanusi emphasized that engaging Islamic clerics and scholars across Lagos State remains critical to ensuring structural alignment with government policies and developmental agendas.
“Continuous orientation and structured engagement between political leaders and the scholarly community are essential for communal harmony and national development,” Sheikh Sanusi noted, calling for sustained dialogue between the state and religious institutions.
The meeting concluded with special prayers offered by Sheikh Sanusi for the sustained health and political success of President Tinubu and Dr. Hamzat. The cleric pledged the institution’s commitment to community mobilization and civic education ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.
