The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has issued a wanted notice for Abdulrasheed Maina, the ex-chairman of the now-defunct Pension Reform Task Team.

The alert was formally announced through a statement signed by Dele Oyewale, the agency’s Head of Media and Publicity.

“The public is hereby notified that Abdulrasheed Abdullahi Maina, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in an alleged case of Receiving Stolen Properties,” It said in the notice posted on its official X handle on Wednesday.

The agency appealed to anyone with relevant details about his location to reach out via its offices in Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt, or Abuja.

“Maina, 61, is an indigene of Biu in Borno State. Anybody with useful information as to his whereabouts should please contact the Commission in its Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt or Abuja offices or through 08093322644; its e-mail address: [email protected] or the nearest Police Station and other security agencies,” it added.

In 2020, Maina was transferred to Nigeria to stand trial for allegations of money laundering. He was apprehended in Niamey, the capital city, after fleeing bail and being issued a warrant of arrest by an Abuja High Court.
