Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has stated that the party must replicate the massive voter turnout and protection of votes witnessed during the last governorship election in Osun State in every state across the country.

Atiku stated this yesterday in Akure, the Ondo State capital, during the formal reception of former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the state, Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), and his supporters into the ADC fold.

The ADC standard bearer, who described the Osun election as evidence of the people’s power, stated that the party must adopt the same strategy in every state ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He noted that the people of Osun State demonstrated that power truly belongs to the electorate when they come out en masse and guard their votes, adding that the ADC would mobilise and replicate the model nationwide.

The former vice president also reiterated the party’s commitment to restoring the fuel subsidy regime and securing every part of the country if elected.

The ADC National Chairman, David Mark, represented by the party’s National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, urged the electorate to use their votes to determine the strength of the party.

Jegede, while speaking after his reception, attributed his defection to the prevailing unemployment, hardship, and suffering in the country.

Relatedly, the Secretary-General of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Sola Ebiseni, has resigned his membership of the Labour Party (LP) and declared his support for the second-term bid of President Bola Tinubu.

Ebiseni made the declaration when he led his supporters to meet with Ondo State Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, at the Government House in Akure.

Aiyedatiwa, while receiving the Afenifere scribe, assured him and his supporters of full integration into the APC campaign structure.

The governor noted that Ebiseni’s political antecedents, his experience as a former chairman of the old Ilaje-Ese-Odo Local Council, and his multiple stints as a commissioner in the state would add immense value to the campaign for the re-election of Tinubu.

Ebiseni described the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway as the most significant life-changing project for the Ilaje coastal people of Ondo State.
