The Ogun State Government has called on Civil Servants in the state to uphold financial prudence, accountability and professionalism in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Olugbenga Dairo, who gave the advice at a retirement and send-off ceremony in honour of the Director of Finance and Accounts in the Ministry, Mr. Solagbade Sakirudeen, who retired from active service and the Director of Administration and Supplies, Mrs. Oluwakemi Somoye -Osokoya, who was transferred from the Ministry, stressed the need for dedication and professionalism in the discharge of their responsibilities

Represented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Aderonke Tokunbo-Peters, Dairo described the two officers as meticulous and thoroughbred civil servants whose contributions had made the administration and financial management of the Ministry more efficient and seamless.

He said their commitment to duty, professionalism and dedication had contributed significantly to the achievement of the Ministry’s objectives under the Prince Dapo Abiodun’s led Administration.

Dairo, commended the retiree and the other departing officer for their years of service, noting that their commitment to financial accountability and administrative efficiency had helped strengthen the operations of the Ministry.

He therefore wished them success in their future endeavours and urged serving civil servants to continue to uphold the principles of prudence and accountability in public service.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Ola Oresanya, commended the officers for their dedication and resourcefulness, describing Solagbade as a meticulous financial manager and a diligent civil servant who contributed immensely to effective public service delivery.

Oresanya, urged other civil servants to emulate their dedication, professionalism and prudent management of public resources in the discharge of their responsibilities.

Also, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Dr. Lateefat Lawal, and the Accountant-General/Permanent Secretary, State Treasury, Mr. Olalekan Taiwo, also expressed appreciation for Solagbade’s commitment, diligence and thorough approach to financial management throughout his career in the State civil service.

Responding, Solagbade said he was deeply touched by the affection and warmth shown to him on a day like this, noting that he was surprised that somebody was actually taking note of his activities while in service.

He therefore urged serving civil servants to be upright and dedicated, as they would be rewarded in due course, while he also expressed appreciation to the dignitaries that graced the occasion of his retirement, from the Hon. Commissioners to the Permanent Secretaries and all other distinguished personalities that were around.

Also, in their separate remarks, staff members of the Ministry of Transportation, that included Adegboyega Ademehin, Ibrahim Hassan and Mr. Adeyemi Odunaya Adesegun, described Mr. Solagbade and Mrs. Somoye-Osokoya as dedicated officers whose professionalism, guidance and concern for the welfare of their colleagues would be greatly missed.
