LASK winger Moses Usor has revealed what Moses Simon said to him on the sideline before coming on as a substitute to score the winner against Madagascar on Friday.

The 24-year-old forward marked his Super Eagles debut on a brilliant note as he came off the bench to score the winner as Nigeria came from a goal down to beat Madagascar 2-1 on Friday in their opening match of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Uyo.

Usor scored from a solo effort as he ran about 50 yards across the pitch, dribbling past two defenders in the box before burying a left-footed strike into the bottom corner.

While reflecting on his memorable debut appearance for the Super Eagles, Usor told Super Eagles media officer Promise Efoghe what Moses Simon told him as the duo came on as second-half substitutes for Akor Adams and Samuel Chukwueze.

Moses Usor shared his thoughts ahead of Super Eagles’ 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier matchday 2 fixture against Guinea-Bissau.

“I was warming up with Moses Simon, so when they called me, because we went in together, he was telling me, ‘Just play your game and be yourself. If you have the ball and you want to go 1v1, take the risk,'” Usor said.
“He gave me this mindset to play the game, and I just took the mentality of taking risks because football is all about risks. So I took that mentality and went there to play my game.”

Moses Usor also revealed that it was a dream to play and score on his debut for the Super Eagles as his family watched from the stands.

“I was surprised. This is a dream because playing at this level, I think it’s a big dream. After every goal, I have to go down on my knees to pray. I thank God for it.”

“It was a different feeling because my family was there also, so I was feeling happy. Seeing everyone here is something I have been dreaming of, people I have been dreaming to play with and being in the same camp with them.”
“It’s a different feeling playing alongside Lookman, Ola, Bassey. It’s a great feeling.”

“I want to give my best whenever I am on the pitch and add to the attacking force. I know Nigerians will be expecting much from me. I have to give my best.”

Usor’s maiden Super Eagles invitation came off a hard-to-ignore start to the Austrian Bundesliga season with three goals and five assists in 12 matches.

The 24-year-old forward will hope to put out another impressive outing when Nigeria take on the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday, 5.m. at the Estádio 24 de Setembro.
