The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened its recruitment portal for Nigerians interested in serving as ad-hoc personnel during the 2027 general elections.

The recruitment exercise is being conducted through the commission’s Personnel Recruitment System and is open to eligible applicants seeking to participate in the conduct of the elections across the country.

INEC said the application portal will remain open until midnight on November 18, 2026, urging interested applicants to complete their registration before the deadline.

The available positions include Supervisory Presiding Officers, Registration Area Centre Managers, Registration Area Technical Support personnel, Presiding Officers and Assistant Presiding Officers.

Applicants are expected to meet the specific qualifications attached to the positions they seek. The commission has also provided different eligibility requirements for the various categories of ad-hoc personnel.

For some positions, eligible National Youth Service Corps members, students of tertiary institutions and qualified public servants may apply, subject to meeting the stipulated conditions.

The commission also stated that applicants, except those seeking technical positions, are generally required to be residents of the state they select during the application process.

As part of the eligibility conditions, applicants must not be members of a political party or have demonstrated support for any candidate or political party.

The recruitment forms part of INEC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections, which will require the deployment of temporary election personnel to polling units and other designated locations across the country.

The commission advised prospective applicants to use its official recruitment platform and be cautious of fraudulent websites or individuals requesting payment in exchange for recruitment.

Interested Nigerians are encouraged to carefully review the requirements for their preferred positions and submit their applications before the November 18 deadline.
