The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi has announced a global digital town hall aimed at engaging Nigerians at home and abroad on the protection of votes ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Obi said the virtual meeting, scheduled for Sunday, October 4, would also give Nigerians an opportunity to contribute ideas and strategies that could shape the next phase of his political movement.
The former Anambra State governor said two questions had repeatedly emerged from his engagements with Nigerians in recent months: how votes would be protected in 2027 and how the movement would pursue victory.
“These are fair questions, and you deserve direct answers,” Obi said in announcing the town hall.
He said the session, tagged “A New Nigeria Global Digital Townhall,” would go beyond a conventional political address, stressing that he also wanted to listen to participants.
“But this is not only about speaking to you. It is about listening to you. I want to hear your concerns, your insights and your strategies,” he said.
Obi added that the movement had always been built around the participation of Nigerians and that their contributions would influence its next steps.
“This movement has always been built by you, and your ideas will shape what we do next,” he said.
The planned engagement places vote protection at the centre of Obi’s latest mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 election.
His campaign has previously spoken about grassroots participation and monitoring of the electoral process.
The town hall will hold from 7pm West Africa Time on Sunday, with participants required to register ahead of the event.
Obi also extended the invitation to Nigerians in the diaspora, urging them to remain part of what he described as an ongoing national conversation.
The NDC candidate concluded his message by reaffirming the movement’s slogan: “A New Nigeria is POSSIBLE.”
