The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has urged senior members to prioritise mentorship and technical training to support the career development of young practitioners.
The society also stressed the need for responsible, transparent and inclusive leadership to advance engineering and contribute to the country’s technological and socio-economic development.
NSE President, Ali Rabiu, gave the charge at the inauguration of the new Executive Committee of the NSE Kano Branch, describing the occasion as an important milestone for the branch.
Rabiu urged the new leadership to establish platforms for mentorship, technical training, entrepreneurship, networking and career development, while encouraging young engineers to participate actively in the society’s activities.
He also called for stronger collaboration between the branch and universities, polytechnics, research institutions, industries, government agencies and professional organisations.
He urged the branch to go beyond its role as a professional association and become a catalyst for technological innovation and socio-economic development.
Rabiu expressed confidence that the new leadership would strengthen the branch and advance the objectives of the society.
The new chairman of the branch, Lawan Umar, pledged to promote professional development, ethical practice and the advancement of engineering in Kano State and Nigeria.
