Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe corps) have arrested three suspected cult members and recovered one firearm from them.
The three suspects were dentified as Samuel, Dapo and Favour.
They were arrested on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at about 4pm, during a security operation at Emmanuel Villa, Abapawa, Ijagun Town.
Their arrest follows credible intelligence concerning the activities of suspected cultists in the town.
The Corps’ Commander, Dr. Soji Ganzallo confirmed this to newsmen in a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi, in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Ganzallo said upon receiving the information, operatives immediately moved to the town, and conducted a security operation which led to the arrest of the suspects.
“During the operation, one firearm was reportedly recovered from the suspects. The weapon was immediately secured by the operatives and preserved as an exhibit for further investigation” he added
The commander said that the suspects were taken into custody and subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Igbeba, for further investigation, interrogation and other necessary legal action.
He said that the recovered firearm was also handed over to the Police as an exhibit in connection with the case.
Ganzallo commended the operatives for their prompt response and intelligence-led action, assuring that the corps would continue to prevent cultism, armed robbery, violence.qmd other criminal activities that threatens the safety and security of residents in the state.
He urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide timely and credible information to security agencies concerning suspicious movements, cult-related activities, possession of illegal firearms and other criminal activities within their communities.
