The Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT), through its National Women Management Committee (NWMC), has unveiled plans for its 27th Annual Women’s Week Celebration, flagging off a major ₦500 million fundraising drive to construct a dedicated Living Facility for the Elderly.
The announcement was made during a press conference last Wednesday at the NASFAT Mosque, Fashoro, Surulere, Lagos.
Speaking at the briefing, the National Women Affairs Secretary, Alhaja Ganiyat Omowumi Babalola, stated that the week-long event will run between October 11 and 18, 2026 across NASFAT zones and branches worldwide.
This year’s event is themed: “Empowered for Impact: Advancing Faith, Entrepreneurship, Technology and Financial Independence.”
Babalola noted that the 2026 edition was structured to transcend speeches by delivering tangible socio-economic interventions, health support, and intergenerational welfare.
“Our senior citizens deserve dignity, care, companionship and a safe environment in which to live and age gracefully,” she said, appealing to philanthropists, institutions, and the public to back the ₦500 million elderly care project. “This initiative goes beyond providing accommodation, it represents an expression of compassion and responsibility towards elderly people in our communities.”
Ahead of the official week-long activities, the organisation conducted six weekend virtual training sessions for women, focusing on practical skills suited to current economic realities. The curriculum covered Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital tools for enterprise, Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) business registration, and household backyard farming to enhance food security.
According to the Chairperson of the 27th Annual Women’s Week Planning Committee, Alhaja Nurat Oluwatoyin Jolaoso, the celebration spans eight days, packed with faith-based interventions, health initiatives, business summits and community outreach.
“Key activities scheduled across the global network include, free screenings for Hepatitis, Cervical Cancer and eye health across various locations, alongside health lectures at the NASFAT Islamic Centre, Asese, Ogun State and a public ‘Walk for Fitness’. The Women Connect with Youth and Children mentorship sessions, alongside intergenerational Qur’an recitation and Islamic quiz competitions. Strategic visits to community health centres to donate essential medical supplies, outreach programmes for widows and environmental sanitation drives at mosque premises globally.”
She emphasized that the theme reflects the organization’s dedication to providing women with the resources, knowledge and confidence necessary to lead transformation within their families and broader society.
“We want the conversation about women to move beyond occasional celebration to sustained conversations about dignity, opportunity, leadership, economic empowerment, family well-being and meaningful participation in society,” Jolaoso declared, urging the press to amplify stories of women driving positive change across various sectors.
Underscoring the broader social impact of the initiative, Alhaja Jolaoso called on corporate organizations, government bodies, media outlets, and the public to partner with NASFAT throughout the week.
“The success of women is a success for families. The empowerment of women strengthens communities, and empowered women contribute significantly to the development of society,” she stated, closing with prayers for the Nigerian Muslim Ummah and the national leadership.
She mentioned that the grand finale on Sunday, October 18, 2026, will take place at the NASFAT Islamic Centre along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Asese, Ogun State, bringing together religious leaders, policy stakeholders, and delegates from across international chapters.
Former National Women Affairs Secretary, Alhaja Nofisat Arogundade, commended the leadership of the Women Affairs Wing and paid tribute to founding figures and senior council members, including Board of Trustees and National Council of Elders.
She emphasized that integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and modern digital tools into women-led enterprises is vital to expanding market visibility and strengthening financial autonomy.
“We are developing women who do not just sit back anymore. With technology, our women can network, innovate and expand their enterprise reach. Digital capability is now essential for every faith-driven entrepreneur,” the gathering noted.
Reflecting on recent capacity-building exercises, including intensive leadership training sessions, former National Women Affairs Secretary, Alhaja Suwebat Kupoluti, noted that continuous education remains pivotal to positioning women for significant roles in public, corporate and community spheres.
“Leadership is not merely about holding a political position or a title; it is about service, influence and taking your rightful space to bring positive change wherever you are in the family, workplace or community.”
Beyond female empowerment, NASFAT Youth Amirah, reiterated its structured approach toward youth integration and succession planning. Through dedicated youth platforms and initiatives such as the NASFAT Mentor Initiative, the organization continues to offer leadership roles, structured mentorship, and moral guidance to young Muslims.
“You cannot find NASFAT youth among the delinquents of today. We are well-trained, given the latitude to lead and guided by structured mentorship to excel in society,” she affirmed.
