Ogun’s So-Safe Corps arrests suspected vandal over alleged theft of iron polez

Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) have arrested a man, Friday Amos Gabriel, for allegedly vandalising and stealing an iron pole at Mosa/Balogun River in the state.

Gabriel was arrested on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, following a distress call received by the Ilogbo Area Command from the Chairman of the New Life Community Development Association (CDA), Mr Akinbobola, at about 6:30 a.m.

Akinbobola reportedly alerted the command after a man was sighted carrying an iron pole in the community.

The Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued yesterday in Abeokuta by the Director of Information and Public Relations, ACC Adegunwa Adegbuyi.

Ganzallo said that following the alert, the Area Commander, Ilogbo Area Command, ACC Odukunle Oloyede, led his team to the area, where they allegedly caught Gabriel in the act.

He said that when questioned about the source of the pole, the suspect reportedly told the operatives that it had been removed from the Mosa/Balogun River area.

According to him, the suspect was subsequently arrested and taken into custody for further investigation.

Ganzallo said items recovered from the suspect included an iPhone, Premier Lotto tickets valued at N4,900, a measuring tape, a torchlight, an iPhone charging cord, two T-shirts and two razor blades.

He added that the suspect and the recovered items were later handed over to SWAT Base 5 for further investigation and necessary action.

The commander commended the community chairman for his vigilance and prompt intervention, urging residents to continue providing security agencies with useful information to help prevent vandalism, theft and other criminal activities.
