Japan Tobacco International (JTI) Nigeria has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to Nigeria’s economic growth and development, reinforcing its confidence in the country’s future, responsible business practices and sustainable value creation.
Speaking yesterday in Abuja, JTI General Manager, Mr Abdallah Simba, also restated confidence in the country’s potential, stating its determination to continue contributing to a sustainable business environment.
With 18 years of business operations in the country, the company says its enduring presence reflects a strong commitment to the country, its people and the creation of sustainable value for stakeholders.
Simba further reiterated the company’s position on Nigeria’s development journey to date, stating that Nigeria remains an important market for JTI, and that its continued operations demonstrate confidence in the country’s long-term economic prospects.
He noted that JTI’s business philosophy places considerable emphasis on responsible corporate conduct, regulatory compliance, employee development and constructive stakeholder engagement.
“Our commitment to Nigeria goes beyond our business operations. As Nigeria celebrates the important milestone of its 66th Independence, we recognise the importance of building a responsible and sustainable enterprise that contributes positively to the country’s development while creating long-term value for our employees, partners and stakeholders,” Simba said.
He explained that JTI Nigeria’s operating philosophy is anchored on high standards of corporate governance, ethical business practices and respect for the regulatory environment.
Simba also highlighted the company’s commitment to building an inclusive workplace, where employees are empowered through professional development, diversity, equal opportunity and a culture of mutual respect.
He maintained that responsible corporate citizenship remains essential to building enduring businesses, particularly in highly regulated industries, where compliance, transparency and accountability are fundamental to sustainable operations.
Simba further expressed confidence in Nigeria’s resilience and capacity to create opportunities for sustainable business growth, and JTI Nigeria’s determination to maintain a responsible corporate presence, strengthen stakeholder relationships and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s long-term economic aspirations.
