Super Eagles midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi could be in action for Marseille this weekend after recovering from a knee injury which has kept him out for about six weeks.
The 23-year-old midfielder came off injured in the 2-0 loss away at Monaco on September 30th in a French Ligue 1 match.
Nnadi came on for Algerian midfielder Hilmad Abdelli in the second half but got injured and was taken off in the 73rd minute.
The injury came at a time when the young midfielder featured in Marseille’s opening two matches of the season, where he came on as a substitute.
The injury also kept him out of Eric Chelle’s selection for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau, as well as the international friendly against Russia.
Meanwhile, Nnadi is set for a possible return this weekend as league matches across Europe return after a lengthy international break.
Nnadi’s injury raised concerns, and early indications suggested that he could be out for a long period, but latest reports show that the midfielder is fit and no longer experiences pain in his knee.
Nnadi was pictured training in an X post shared on the club’s page on Thursday ahead of the trip to Troyes on Sunday.
Marseille has been in terrible form, losing their last five matches across all competitions – the latest being a 2-1 home loss to reigning champions PSG in the Le Classique before the break.
In the absence of Danish midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, who sustained an injury in the 1-0 away at Wales in the Euro Nations League, Coach Bruno Génésio could hand Nnadi his first start of the season and the chance to lock down a starting shirt in midfield.
Tochukwu Nnadi will also hope to stay fit and return to the Super Eagles in November when the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers resume. Nnadi made his debut for the national team earlier this year at the Africa Cup of Nations against Uganda, replacing Paul Onuachu.
