The Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, has confirmed the appointment of former Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Chief Financial Officer, Mallam Isiaka Abdulrazaq, as Tafidan Yamman Zazzau.

The appointment recognises Abdulrazaq’s contributions to community development, philanthropy, peace-building and the advancement of the Zazzau Emirate.

The confirmation was conveyed in a letter dated October 7, 2026, issued by the Office of the Council Secretary of the Zazzau Emirate Council and signed by the Magatakardan Zazzau, Yusuf Abubakar Hayat.

Abdulrazaq, a lawyer and finance professional, retired from the NNPC in 2019 as Chief Financial Officer after a distinguished career in Nigeria’s energy sector.

He previously served at the National Electric Power Authority, later known as the Power Holding Company of Nigeria, where he rose to the position of Executive Director, Finance and Accounts.

Born in Zaria, Kaduna State, Abdulrazaq attended Barewa College, one of Northern Nigeria’s oldest educational institutions.
Beyond his professional career, he has been involved in philanthropic activities and community development initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of the people.

His appointment also continues his family’s longstanding relationship with the Zazzau traditional institution.

He is the son of the late Alhaji A.G.F. Abdulrazaq, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria and former Tafidan Zazzau, who received the traditional title in 1962.

The family has maintained close ties with Zaria since the mid-1950s, with the new title holder’s appointment reflecting its historical association with the emirate.

The Emir and members of the Zazzau Emirate Council congratulated Abdulrazaq, expressing confidence in his ability to uphold the dignity of the title and discharge its responsibilities with integrity and dedication.

They also prayed for divine guidance, wisdom and strength for him in serving the emirate and its people.
