Lawyers Offer Free Legal Advice to Residents

Amuwo Odofin Lawyers Forum during the free legal service event in Lagos

The Amuwo-Odofin Lawyers’ Forum has provided free legal advice to residents on tenancy, property and matrimonial disputes as part of efforts to improve access to justice.

The outreach, held on Saturday in collaboration with the Amuwo-Odofin Local Government, also addressed eviction procedures and domestic violence cases.

The forum’s chairman, Chris Aghaonu, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the initiative was part of the body’s annual effort to give back to the community.

He said the lawyers advised residents on their legal rights and the appropriate steps to take when disputes arose, urging landlords to follow due process in evicting tenants.

“Knowledge is power, and information is key. We want residents to understand their rights and the legal steps to take when disputes arise,” he said.

Aghaonu said the forum also assessed matrimonial disputes, including domestic violence cases, and advised affected residents on available legal remedies.
