Kwara Speaker credits executive synergy for crisis-free assembly

The Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly and APC Governorship candidate Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu

The Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly and APC Governorship candidate Rt. Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, has attributed the stability and achievements of the state’s 10th Assembly to purposeful leadership, unity and a cordial working relationship with the executive arm.

Danladi, who disclosed this in an interview with BBC News Yoruba, recounted how he became Speaker at age 33 and has led the House for over seven years.

He recalled that under his leadership, the 10th Assembly maintained a rancour-free legislature, which he said enhanced governance and accelerated development in the state.

“There wouldn’t be reasons for conflict between the legislature and the executive if a good working relationship exists between them,” he said.

He explained that: “the synergy between the two arms enabled us to enact people-oriented laws, passed resolutions that address security, education, health and agriculture, and support the transformation agenda of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq in the last seven years.”

According to him, the Assembly was able to focus on laws that promote peace, empower citizens and improve social welfare, while also creating legislative backing for investment and industrialization to move Kwara away from a civil-service-dependent economy.

The Speaker added that the 10th Assembly has remained united, accountable and responsive to the yearnings of Kwarans, and has successfully avoided the division and leadership tussles that characterized many other state assemblies.

The APC Governorship candidate assured that the experience and institutional knowledge gathered in leading the Assembly would be deployed to drive further development if elected governor in 2027.
