AI to reshape energy demand, operations as tech leaders converge on ADIPEC

Petroleum oil rigs

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is expected to reshape energy demand, infrastructure and operations, with global technology executives set to examine its deployment across the sector at ADIPEC 2026 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The event, scheduled for November 2 to 5, will bring together energy operators, investors, policymakers and technology innovators to explore how AI can improve industrial efficiency, strengthen electricity grids and support investment decisions.

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), widespread adoption of existing AI applications could deliver up to $110 billion in yearly power generation savings by 2035 and unlock as much as 175 gigawatts (GW) of additional transmission capacity from existing power lines.

However, the rapid expansion of AI and data centres is also increasing electricity demand, highlighting the growing interdependence between the energy and technology industries.

Confirmed speakers include Siemens AG President and Chief Executive Officer, Roland Busch; Honeywell Chairman and CEO, Vimal Kapur; AVEVA CEO, Caspar Herzberg; Siemens Energy President and CEO, Dr Christian Bruch; Cognite CEO, Girish Rishi; and Schneider Electric CEO, Olivier Blum.

Other speakers include AIQ CEO, Dennis Jol; SandboxAQ CEO, Jack Hidary; and Domyn Founder and CEO, Uljan Sharka.

Busch said industrial AI could deliver greater value when integrated into critical infrastructure, including electricity grids, industrial systems and buildings.

He stressed the need for sustained investment, engineering expertise and closer collaboration between the energy and technology sectors to scale deployment.

AI will feature across ADIPEC’s strategic and technical conferences, exhibition and leadership roundtables, covering predictive analytics, automation, cybersecurity, asset optimisation and the infrastructure required to support rising electricity demand.

The event’s technical conferences received a record 7,261 abstract submissions this year, with AI and digital transformation accounting for 1,296, the highest among technical categories.

At the exhibition, an expanded AI Zone, co-hosted by AIQ, will showcase applications ranging from reservoir modelling and autonomous operations to robotics for inspecting pipelines and power plants.

President of ADIPEC, the organiser of dmg events, Christopher Hudson, said deploying AI securely at scale required engineering expertise, investment and commercial discipline, beyond technological innovation.
