The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has canvassed for secure, interoperable and resilient financial infrastructure to support Nigeria’s growing digital economy.
The Chief of Staff at the NRS, Tayo Koleosho, stated this while delivering a keynote address on behalf of the Executive Chairman of the service, Dr Zacch Adedeji, at the sixth edition of TechConnect organised by Interswitch in Abuja.
Koleosho said financial infrastructure plays a critical role in connecting consumers, businesses, financial institutions and government. He noted that digitalisation goes beyond moving money to supporting broader economic activities and improving service delivery.
He also emphasised the importance of interoperability, cybersecurity, data protection and trust in strengthening digital infrastructure.
According to him, these capabilities are essential for enabling secure transactions, supporting compliance and helping institutions respond effectively to changing market needs.
The event, themed “Built for What’s Next: Designing Adaptive Financial Infrastructure for a Dynamic Market,” brought together stakeholders from government, financial services, technology and business to discuss how technology, payments, policy and collaboration could support sustainable digital growth.
Vice President, Business Innovation and Growth, Tyoyila Aga, at Interswitch, said TechConnect provided a platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas and explore opportunities for collaboration as the digital economy evolves.
Aga said building adaptive financial infrastructure requires the adoption of new technologies, partnerships and interoperability to translate innovation into practical solutions that can be deployed at scale.
“The future of financial infrastructure will be shaped by how effectively we connect technology, institutions and people around the needs of a changing economy,” she said.
She added that sustained collaboration among stakeholders was necessary to develop infrastructure capable of supporting sustainable digital growth.
A fireside chat, titled “The Digital Economy at Scale: Technology, Payments and the Future of Business in Africa,” examined how technology and payments are enabling new business models, creating opportunities for businesses and expanding participation in the digital marketplace.
