For Nigerian Afro-fusion artiste, Sunday Uneke Okoro, better known as Possible, the title of his just released EP, ‘My Time’ is more than a catchy phrase. It represents years of self-belief in the face of doubt.

The artiste just released a five-track project featuring “Future,” “Baba,” “Unbelievable,” “Realize” and “Laye.”

In a chat, Possible said the title reflects his conviction that the EP will mark the beginning of his breakthrough in the Nigerian music industry.

“I chose the title ‘My Time’ because I believe that the EP is going to become the beginning of my limelight in the Nigerian music industry, in other words, my time to shine,” he said.

That confidence is also reflected in his stage name.

Possible explained that his first nickname was “Small,” given by friends because of his stature. He said the nickname later evolved as his friends recognised his determination to do things excellently.

However, his decision to adopt “Possible” came after he encountered people who doubted both his ability and his musical talent.

Rather than allow the doubts to discourage him, he turned them into motivation.

“Because I have believed in myself that I’m going to excel in the music career I chose,” he said when explaining why he selected the name Possible.

That philosophy now informs the message he hopes listeners will take from “My Time.”

Possible wants his music to communicate three central ideas: that anyone can succeed, that hard work pays and that focus and consistency are essential to achieving one’s goals.

His musical philosophy has been shaped by his own experience. After developing an interest in music while at university, he eventually left school to pursue his dream.

His path was far from straightforward. In Lagos, he worked as a cleaner and used his income to finance studio sessions. He later ventured into boating, which remains one of the ways he finances his music.

The EP therefore arrives after years of persistence without a major breakthrough.

Possible remains independent and has not signed with a record label. His music is currently available on streaming platforms, while Idris Amaka handles his PR and bookings.

Among the five tracks on “My Time,” “Unbelievable” is his favourite, while “Baba” is particularly personal because its content draws from his life experiences.

With the project, Possible is hoping to translate his long-standing belief in himself into a wider audience and establish a stronger position within Nigeria’s competitive music industry.
