Chairman of Troyka Holdings, Dr Biodun Shobanjo, has received the Change Maker of the Century Award from Daily Times Nigeria for his contributions to Nigeria’s advertising and marketing communications industry.
He received the award on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, during the newspaper’s centenary celebration in Lagos, themed ‘Honouring the Past, Shaping the Future’.
Shobanjo, who has spent decades building businesses in the marketing communications sector, was recognised for his role in shaping the industry and establishing organisations that have continued to influence its growth.
Through Troyka Holdings, he built a group of companies with interests in advertising, media strategy, public relations and integrated communications. Its businesses include Insight Redefini, All Seasons Zenith and Quadrant MSL.
Beyond receiving the award, Shobanjo delivered the keynote address at the celebration, speaking on the role of vision, courage and continuity in building institutions that stand the test of time.
He also praised Chairman of Folio Media Group, Fidelis Anosike, for his efforts to preserve and reposition Daily Times, encouraging the organisation to make greater use of its history and archives.
Shobanjo urged the newspaper to look beyond its traditional print operations and consider new opportunities for growth, particularly as changes in technology continue to reshape the media industry.
The celebration also featured a Shaping the Future Town Hall, where business leaders and other industry stakeholders discussed succession, organisational sustainability and the future of Nigerian institutions.
Technology entrepreneur Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, who participated in the discussion, stressed the need to invest in people’s skills and productive capacity, identifying this as an important part of creating employment opportunities.
Other contributions centred on how businesses can develop structures that support continuity, adapt to economic changes and remain relevant across generations.
For Shobanjo, the recognition comes after decades of work in an industry where he has played a significant role in building agencies, developing talent and expanding the scope of marketing communications in Nigeria.
The event marked 100 years of Daily Times, one of Nigeria’s oldest newspaper institutions, and brought together business leaders, media professionals and other stakeholders to reflect on its history and the future of the industry.
