N1m to be won at GOTV Boxing Night

Pay-TV provider, GOtv, has announced that the best boxer at the third edition of the GOtv Boxing Night will go home with a cash prize of N1million and a trophy in addition to his/her fighter’s purse.
 
This was disclosed yesterday at a press conference in Lagos by Mr. Jenkins Alumona, Chief Executive Officer of Flykite Productions, promoters of the six-bout professional boxing event holding at the Indoor Sports Hall of the ‎National Stadium, Lagos on July 26, 2015.

The biggest bout on the card at the tournament, approved by the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control, is the 12-round National Light Middleweight contest between Sule “Tyson” Olagbade, reigning champion, and Abolaji “Afonja Warrior” Rasheed.

Also on the card is a six-round international female bout between Nigeria’s Helen “Iron Lady” Johnson and Gifty “Tiger” Amanua Ankrah of Ghana

The event will also feature a Light Welterweight duel between Kazeem “Iberu” Ariyo and Olaide “Fijaborn” Fijabi. The fight will span eight rounds.

In the Lightweight category, Prince Nurudeen Fatai will take on Chibuzor “T-Boy” Obi over eight rounds, while Sunday “Golden Child” Ajuwa is billed to fight Femi “Easywhite” Ajayi in an eight round Cruiserweight challenge bout.
