Sports facilities expert tasks Buhari on National Stadium in Lagos
FIFA licensed match agent, Ebi Egbe, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to pay close attention to the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, saying the neglected edifice holds key to the country’s sports revival.
Praising the president for the early release of funds to the National Sports Commission (NSC) to prepare for the All Africa Games, the Commonwealth Games and the Rio 2016 Olympics, Egbe said: “I m impressed with the way the president reacted to the request of NSC ahead of the games. Now that the NSC is not going to worry over money, the chances of Nigeria re-enacting the COJA 2003 home feat are very bright.”
He also urged Buhari to ensure that the National Stadium in Lagos was repaired and put into use as it was in the 80s and 90s in the interest of Nigerian sportsmen and women.
“The National Stadium in Lagos is a national monument that the Federal Government should not allow to rot away. That edifice is an architectural masterpiece and it won’t cost the country a fortune to repair it. The President should instruct the NSC to do something about the place. It is the nation’s number one sporting arena,” the sports facilities expert said.
Egbe stressed that his outfit, Monimichelle, would be ready to turn the stadium around, insisting that given how solid the stadium is, it won’t cost much to get it back to life.

Fast track the sale of the stadium. The buyer must agree to repair it, can’t be demolished. Government don’t have the funds to repair and maintain the stadium. Government can get into a deal where they can get 15 percent equity,
