Nigerians Urged To Patronise Registered Pharmacies

Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), has called on Nigerians to buy drugs on registered and recognised pharmacies to avoid using drugs that would be injurious to their health.

They made this call, during 2015, Pharmacy Week, organised by PSN Lagos State branch titled: “Good pharmacy practice, the key to better health outcome”.

Speaking at the programme, Chairman, PSN, Lagos State Branch, Pharm. Gbenga Olubowale, said Pharmacy Week is an annual event for Pharmacists in Lagos State to showcase their talents and avenue for the association to create awareness among Lagosians to avoid buying drugs in unregistered pharmacy.

“What every pharmacist does should be anchored on good pharmacy practices because this is only thing that can guarantee positive outcome of our interventions with patients. We campaign for good healthcare services and partner with media to sensitise the people.”

He said, “There are certain places designed to purchase drugs to ensure drugs are safe. They must obtain their drugs in recognised and registered pharmacies where they have signage and any time drugs are been distributed, one has the rights to ask questions. Such pharmacy must have license and display it in order for the public to see.
