Buhari appoints Fowler new FIRS boss

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has appointed a former Chairman of the Lagos State Board of Internal Revenue, Dr. William Babatunde Fowler, as the new Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

• Gusau heads Budget Office 

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has appointed a former Chairman of the Lagos State Board of Internal Revenue, Dr. William Babatunde Fowler, as the new Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).

The appointment, however, will be in acting capacity pending his confirmation by the Senate. Similarly, Buhari has named Malam Aliyu Yahaya Gusau as the new Director-General, Budget Office, with effect from Tuesday, August 18.

A statement by the Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, said Fowler was the Chief Executive Officer/Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Board of Internal Revenue from 2005 to 2014.

Gusau as Director-General, Budget Office of the Federation is taking over from Dr. Bright Okogu, who has spent two terms in office.
