Dagunro, Rotary Donate Tennis Board, Other Items To Ogudu Community

AS part of their efforts to encourage sports development in the Ogudu community of Lagos State, a philanthropist, Femi Dagunro, in partnership with Rotary Club, has donated a tennis board, among other items, to the community.

Saying that the donation was aimed at discovering fresh talents in the community to take the youths off the street, the donors promised to empower youths in the community.

“We should realize that these people, if you develop their talent, would be more useful to their community and the nation. This is to groom them for the future,” Dagunro said while presenting the items.

He advised the youths to seize the opportunity given to them by his organization to emulate stars like Aruna Quadri, adding that table tennis is a global sport that has earned big revenues for some countries.

Also speaking at the event, Lukman Okunnu, who represented the Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Wahid Oshodi, said the state would continue to invest in youth development through empowering them in various sporting activities.

He added that the state would partner with any group interested in sponsoring events that would help discover talents from the grassroots, adding that the Ibile Games for secondary schools students is one of the initiatives of the state aimed at youth development.

Earlier, President of Rotary Club, Ogudu, Fikayo Tunde-Ojo, had revealed that the club decided to partner with Dagunro in the area of sports because of his focus on youth empowerment.
