Kumuyi Charges Nigerians To Shun Cultism
IF William Shakespeare were to comment on the Lagos City-wide Crusade, which held on Thursday at Ikeja Grammar School, Bolade, Oshodi, Lagos, he probably would have reiterated that: “There is a tide in the affairs of men, which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune; omitted, all the voyage of their lives is bound in shallows and in miseries.”
That was exactly the situation that played out at the crusade organised by the Deeper Christian Life Ministry (DCLM) in conjunction with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), as the participants were in ecstasy, even in the rain, and waded through pools of flood and mud, just to have an encounter with the God of wonders.
At the venue, which was jam-packed, the heavy downpour did not deter the participants, as they considered the programme a lifetime opportunity. So, they stood in the rain, holding on tenaciously to their conviction of maximising the opportunity of the crusade. Some of them were of the belief that the rain was divinely engineered to pour extraordinary blessings upon them. And perhaps their resolve was also bolstered by the choir rendition entitled, “Shout, for the victory has been won”.

Every prayer point raised by Pastor William F. Kumuyi, the General Superintendent of DCLM, a First Class graduate of mathematics with emphasis on complex analysis, was greeted with a thunderous, “Amen.” Over 1000 participants had trooped out to surrender their lives to Christ during an “altar call”. In the face of this determination, Pastor Kumuyi couldn’t help but remarked, “This is a remarkable day, a day of reference and one they will never forget.”

At the Shomolu crusade, held within the precincts of Yaba College of Technology, the participants, who included Uduak Inyang-Udoh, director of Academic Planning Unit (APU), and Sola Akeredolu, chairman of Joint Christian Management Committee, both of Yabatech, were visibly excited to be at the programme. Inyang-Udoh, who represented Mrs. Margaret K. Ladipo, the Rector of the institution, said: “Personally, I am excited because I see this as a lifetime opportunity.”

Prior to Pastor Kumuyi’s ministration, Akeredolu, who had kept tabs on the activities of the crusade in Lagos since it started, urged all to open themselves to get the best out of the event. Said he: “Be ready to catch the blessings”. And true to expectation, it was obvious the participants experienced diverse manifestation of God’s power.

Kumuyi, in his message entitled, “Decision that activates supernatural power,” hinged the predicament of majority of people on their preference for dwelling in the valley of indecision. He called on such to escape God’s wrath through repentance of sins.
Noting that decision-making should be a personal, practical and purposeful issue, the cleric said: “A man of no decision is a man of no value, no stamina. Decision makes or mars a man. While decision makes the man, indecision breaks him.”

At Agege, which witnessed numerous testimonies, Pastor Kumuyi, in his message entitled, “The Supernatural Beginning of a Better Future,” charged Nigerians to shun night clubbing, cultism and other social vices, as these could be destructive to their lives.
The General Superintendent, who also urged Nigerians to surrender their lives to Jesus, Who has the power to break negative habits and lifestyles, said:

“You would have gone to school, but night club would not allow you; you would have earned money, but roaming about would not allow you. People would never actualise the original plan God has for them, because there has been a derailment. Satan, society and sin conspired to derail your life with your cooperation. But your destiny, which is being held by society, sin and Satan, will be recovered. All the things that Satan, society and sin have planted in your life shall be broken. God has a masterpiece for your life, but the enemy has destroyed it through bad habits.

After Pastor Kumuyi’s prayer, several participants came forward to give testimonies. Among them was Okon Bassey, who testified that on March 18, 2008, he had a stroke that left him paralysed. Consequently, he had gone to many hospitals without getting cure, but after the prayer, he could walk again.

Abasi Emmanuel Obu, another participant, disclosed that he was deeply involved in the Olumba cult, where he was a member of the 144 Virgin Group. But he got converted in June 2015, when Kumuyi held a crusade in Port Harcourt. Consequently, Obu submitted his shrines for destruction. While at the Agege crusade, he received a phone call from home that strange things were happening in his house in Calabar and that the satanic objects, which were deposited there, were falling and getting destroyed.

Idowu Agida, who, two months ago, had high blood pressure, which resulted in the paralysis of both legs and hands, said he also received divine touch. He was actually carried to the crusade ground by two persons. But after the prayer, God’s miraculous power touched him and he became completely healed. He affirmed that he could walk by himself.

Mrs. Ngozi Okpara, who worked with Promasidor, makers of Cowbell Milk, claimed to have had a spiritual attack in 2008, while in her office. This, she said, not only affected her speech and breathing, but also affected her hands and legs. Since then, she had been in constant pain and had tried all possible medication without any improvement. But after Pastor Kumuyi’s prayer at the crusade, she got healed.

Also, Anike Williams had had mental problem for 13 years. But after the prayer, she became healed.

The Lagos Citywide Crusade, which spanned three weeks, was rounded off last Friday at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
