The Ijebus are well known all over Nigeria and indeed the world for their entrepreneurial skills. But once every year, the sons and daughters of this illustrious tribe come home to pay homage to their paramount ruler, Awujale of Ijebu land. This is what is known as Ojude Oba Festival, which holds three days after the Eid El Kabir celebration. This year was no different and Eagle Aromatic Schnapps, from the stable of Intercontinental Distillers Limited, a brand at the forefront of promoting tradition, supported the event.

As a build up to the event, the brand paid a courtesy visit to the Oba, HRH Sikiru Kayode Adetona to felicitate with him and receive royal blessings. He enjoined the brand to continue to promote tradition. The Ojude Oba Festival was graced by notable personalities like Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayesla State, Senator Daisy Danjuma, Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Mrs. Onanuga, former Governor Gbenga Daniel and popular Industrialist, Chief Okoya Thomas. There were resplendent displays from the various Regbe Regbe (ie groups) as well as warrior families who thrilled the crowds with horse riding displays

At the event, the brand identified with the Bobagunte Regbe Regbe, which has notable ijebu like Iyalode Alatishe and popular fuji musician Salawa Abeni as members. Assistant Brand Manager of Eagle Aromatic Schnapps; Gbemileke Lawal said Ojude Oba is undoubtedly one of the biggest cultural gatherings in Nigeria today.

According to him, “It is the gathering of people who come together yearly to celebrate the culture and tell their story to the world the way it should be told. Eagle/Ojude Oba together espouse the essence of culture and gives the people a sense of belonging while latching on to tradition of yester years”.

He enjoined the coming generation to preserve culture and tradition by holding on to this platform. The brand gave out free gifts to visitors at the festival, just as they enjoyed free sampling at Eagle schnapps stand.
