Foundation empowers 100 IDPs with start-up packs

To bring succour to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the country, a non-governmental organisation, TRUE Foundation, has empowered some IDPs with startup parks at the end of a five-day vocational training in Abuja.

Speaking at the presentation in Abuja, Founder, True Foundation, Mrs. Brenda Ataga said the organisation aimed to tackle the issue of unemployment among youths across the country.

Ataga who is also a Special Adviser to the Minister of Petroleum Resources stated that empowering the youth is critical to the economy and growth of the country and stressed the need for youths to be gainfully engaged to reduce crime rate across the country.She said: “When people are gainfully engaged or when we deal with the issue of unemployment they won’t be thinking about crime or nefarious activities that hinders the society.”

Ataga called on the Federal Government to set up vocational training schools in all parts of the country to empower individuals who did not attend formal school.

“It is our hope that the Government will set up vocational schools in every part of the country so that people can be adequately empowered if they are not able to learn cognitively,” she said.
