The Kano State Government on Monday warned residents against indiscriminate dumping of refuse.

The Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Haruna Makoda, gave the warning when he visited an illegal dumpsite at Adakawa quarters in Dala Local Council of the state.

Makoda expressed dismay at the development, saying he was compelled to visit the site following complaints by residents.

He called on residents of the state to complement government’s efforts by making the environment clean at all times.

According to him, government has provided convenient and authorised dumpsites where refuse could be easily collected for evacuation.

The commissioner also urged residents to alert the state Refuse Management and Rehabilitation Board to overfilled refuse bins that had yet to be evacuated.
