‘Coca Cola committed to promoting wellbeing of Nigerians’

Coca-ColaThe Coca Cola Company Nigeria has reiterated its commitment to the long-term wellbeing of the communities in which it operates.

Community Affairs Manager of Coca Cola, Mr. Emeka Mba, told The Guardian, after the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology (NIFST) 2015 Conference held last week in Owerri, Imo State, that the commitment to promote wellbeing include: “We offer a variety of no and low calorie beverage products to our consumers in Nigeria, including water, sparkling soft drinks and juices.

“Provide clear nutritional information, showing the calories in our packages to enable consumers make sensible and appropriate choices at the point of purchase.”

Mba said Coca Cola sponsored NIFST Owerri 2015 because they are committed to promoting dialogue with key stakeholders to achieve shared understanding and balanced communication on health issues.

He said the company currently supports 280 physical activity/nutritional education programs in 115 countries around the world including the Annual Scientific Conferences by NIFST, Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN), Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR) Yaba, Lagos, and Annual Health symposium by the University of Ibadan Association of Nutrition Students Society.

“We communicate and merchandise our products in a responsible way, without directing our communication to kids under 12 years old. This is so because we recognize that children do not have the capacity to make informed choices about what they consume,” he added.
