STANDARD Chartered Bank created the biggest upset of the 2015 Nigeria Bankers Games when they knocked out five times winners and defending champions, UBA, in a closely fought quarterfinal contest that ended 1-0 at the Digital Bridge football pitch over the weekend. But the result was seen coming by pundits, who had watched UBA struggle through the group stages without a win.

Winger, Charles Brendan scored the only goal of the fixture in the first half, hitting a perfectly aimed shot to beat the goalkeeper. All efforts by UBA to come back into the game was rebuffed by a cohesive Standard Chartered backline and it would have ended 2-0 but for a late miss by Funlola Oni, who failed to score in a one-on-one situation with UBA goalkeeper, Shola Thomas.
 
The biggest win of the weekend was recorded by free scoring Fidelity Bank that ran riots, netting four past Heritage Bank’s goalkeeper, Tunde Adeniyi on a day brightened his chances of emerging top scorer after hitting a brace.

First Bank continued their run of good form by piping ECOBANK 1-0 in a game that saw the two sides fighting to dominate possession.

After a goalless first half, First Bank broke the deadlock on 47th minute through Yakasai Kabuiru, who converted from the spot after Seun Oloniyo was brought down in the box.
