Alao-Akala faults Ajimobi’s claim on best workers-friendly govt

LABOUR Party (LP) gubernatorial candidate in Oyo state, Adebayo Alao-Akala has faulted Governor Abiola Ajimobi for describing his administration as the best workers friendly government.

Alao- Akala in a statement accused Ajimobi of reducing governance to a ridiculous object of propaganda in a bid to score cheap political point.

In the statement signed by his spokesperson, Abraham Ojo, the former governor stated that Ajimobi’s claim is another way of deceiving the people of the state with the intention to hoodwink the public and lure them into another era of government with draconian policy.

“Workers in the state today have been caged; they cannot challenge any unfavorable decision of the government due to the threat of sack and indiscriminate transfer to far location without any provision.       “A government that claims to be workers friendly in the early days of his administration reverted the minimum wage paid by his predecessor to civil servants, sacked the Directors of Personal management DPM at the local government without any genuine reason and equally dismissed civil servants on flimsy excuses without recourse to due process”.

“It is interesting to know that most of the workers sacked by the government went to court and obtained judgment in their favour yet, Ajimobi has refused to abide by the order of the court reinstating them. Today many workers have been laid off while those who are in the service works with fear”, he said

Alao akala also asked the governor to explain to the people of the state why he reverted the minimum wage, which he implemented and replace it with a lesser scale at the twilight of his administration.

He therefore challenged Ajimobi to place the new scale he approved with the minimum wage scale he met in office.

“As a governor I increased both car and housing loans, paid salary on time and ensured pensioners are adequately rewarded  While my successor who is claiming to be what he is not has  failed to respond positively to the yearning of the entire people of the state”, he added

While reiterating his commitment to the welfare of the masses, the LP gubernatorial candidate said, “just like I promised, the labour union leaders and some members of the teachers union, my administration will create a conducive working environment for the workers in the state”.
