THE pump price regime has taken off in Cross River State with only one station complying. That is the NNPC Mega station, which was selling at N86 per litre.

However, most of the major marketers did not open for business even though it was speculated that some of them might be hoarding the product to sell late at night to black market operators at high prices.

No top official at Mobil or Conoil could be reached to comment but two pump attendants said: “We don’t have product but if you do have old product certainly you will want to sell to recoup to make more profit.”

Many of the independent markers did not sell yesterday but few that had products sold at N140 and N150 per litre. The attendant in one of the stations said, “Our oga bought at a high price and we have to sell at high price else we will be running at loss.”
