Akeredolu pardons 17 prisoners

Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has pardoned 17 prisoners to commemorate the independence anniversary.

He granted the pardon in accordance with the recommendation of the State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy.

The announcement was made through a statement made available to journalists in Akure yesterday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Segun Ajiboye.

The governor implored the citizens, especially, those who have, to endeavour to share with those who do not have, describing Nigeria as the light of Africa.

Akeredolu, who urged the people to support his party, assured that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government would leave no stone unturned in fixing the nation’s battered economy.

Meanwhile, the Bishop of Ondo Catholic Diocese, Most Rev. Jude Arogundade, admonished the citizenry to be patriotic and make meaningful contribution to nation building.

Arogundade, who gave the charge yesterday at the independence anniversary thanksgiving service at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Ondo Road, Akure, described Nigerians as the most hardworking people on earth.
