PLATEAU State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has approved the appointment of Major-General Stephen Go’ar (rtd) as the Coordinator of the State Security outfit, Operation Rainbow.

Go’ar was a member of the 11th Regular Combatant Corps who was commissioned into the Nigerian Army in 1974.

The major general was a fellow of the Nigerian War College and retired from active military service in 2007. He had held several military, field operation command positions including Force Commander, Joint Task Force, Operation Harmony in Bakassi Peninsular.

A statement by the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the governor, Mr. Emmanuel Samuel Nanle said General Go’ar is expected to bring his wealth of experience in field operations and peace building to bear in consolidating on the peace efforts in Plateau.

The governor expressed appreciation to the immediate past Coordinator, Air Vice Marshal Bala Danbaba (rtd) for his selfless service to the state and wished him well in his future endeavours.

Meanwhile, the governor has rejected the plan to sell Jos Polo Club, a move initiated by the immediate past administration in the state.
Lalong revealed this at the closing ceremony of this year’s annual Polo Peace Tournament organised by the Nigeria Polo Federation.
