Ugwuanyi Inaugurates Caretaker Committee Chairmen For Enugu Councils

Enugu State goveror, UgwuanyiGovernor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has inaugurated caretaker committees for the 17 local government councils in the state, charging them to live within their respective council areas.

The caretaker committee members include three immediate past elected council chairmen. They are Prince Cornelius Nnaji, who just completed
his tenure of four years in Enugu east, Afam Okereke, Nkanu West and Cornelius Onwubuya for Uzo-Uwani.

Other chairmen of the council caretaker committees include Ekwe Chidi for Aninri, Igwe Isaac Chukwudi – Enugu North, Sunday Ugwu – Enugu
South and Fred Ezenwa – Ezeagu. Others are Malachy Agbo – Igbo-Etiti, Uwake Ezeja – Igboeze North, Fidelis Odoh – Igboeze South and Benjamin Edeoga – Isiuzo, among others.

While inaugurating the members, the governor directed them and their deputies to brace up for a governance style embedded in a strict fiscal discipline in view of the peculiar situation confronting their council areas.

He emphasised the importance of their living in their local government council areas, saying it would help them to run their councils effectively.

Ugwuanyi reminded them that the government and people of Enugu State expect good performance from them, while thanking the out-gone chairmen and the councilors for the service they rendered in their respective capacities and wished them well in their future endeavours.

Earlier in a speech, the state Commissioner for Local Government, Chief Chijioke Edeoga thanked Ugwuanyi for constituting amiable team made up of people with pedigree and integrity.
Speaking on behalf of the caretaker council chairmen and their deputies, Prof. Rose Onah, chairperson of Nsukka Local Government Area, thanked the governor for finding them worthy to serve the state.
