Memory Verse: Psalm 150:1 – Praise the LORD. Praise God in His sanctuary: praise Him in the firmament of His power.
Scripture: Psalm 150
Introduction
Praise God for who He is. He must be praised. Consider the work of His hands, His kindness, provision, protection and salvation. He made all these available to us. What is praise? Praise is an expression of gratitude and acknowledgment of the awesomeness of the only true Sovereign.
Why Praise The Lord?
THE reasons are innumerable. Some reasons are quite obvious though; He is God, and His works are mighty, His love is eternal. He saves and restores. Ps.100: 3; Lam.3: 22-23; Is.53: 5. He is glorious in holiness and fearful even in praises. “…by Him all were created, in heaven…on earth, visible and invisible…thrones, dominions…principalities… powers: all were created by Him and for Him…” Col 1:16.
How To Praise Him?
Ps. 103:1-3; Ps.42: 5. We should praise the Lord with the intensity and passion of a thirsty-heart panting after the refreshing natural water of the brook. Bless and praise Him with all that is within you. We must praise God with our lives, obedience and substance, with gifts, hymns and spiritual songs…with all instruments of music and with dancing, Ps. 9:1; Ps.138: 1; Ps.63: 3-5; Eph.5: 19; Col.3: 16; Ps.150: 3-5. Acknowledge His power over life and death, to bring down and to raise up the poor from the dust and the homeless street beggar from the dunghill and set Him on high among the mighty princes
Conclusion
Cultivate the habit of praising God for He alone is worthy to be praised. He is higher than the highest and He will continue to lift you higher from glory to glory as you praise His holy name. Praise is a way of returning all the glory to God, where, in any event, it properly belongs, Ps. 150:3; Ps.71: 6. Praise is indeed the surest way of getting God to arise, causing His enemies and your adversaries to scatter, and the breaking of all gates of brass and cutting the bars of iron asunder. At midnight Paul and Silas in the jailhouse with their legs in stocks and intense discomfort and pain…”…prayed and sang praises to God…and suddenly there was a great earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened and every one’s bands were loosed” Acts 16:25-26. You will be delivered and set totally and permanently free today as you intensely praise the Lord of Host in 2016 in the name of Jesus.
