The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate revealed at the weekend how the Tiv Traditional Council under the leadership of Tor Tiv, Prof. James Ayatse, brokered peace between him and Ortom at his palace in Gboko after being at loggerheads for about three years.
Suswam spoke in Abuja at a dinner organised by a group of Tiv professionals in honour of the executive chairman, Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS), Mr. Terzungwe Atser.
According to him, having put their political differences behind them, their first major task was to move against the All Progressives Congress (APC) and completely obliterate its presence, which, he said, has slowed down development in the state.
Mr. Atser decried the poor revenue base of the state and promised to embark on an aggressive drive to up the ante to more than 400 per cent of tax.
Meanwhile, former PDP House of Representatives aspirant for Ankpa/Olamaboro/Omala constituency, Aurelius Adejoh, has said that the party would not change from its old ways.
According to him, the impunity and imposition, which made the party to lose the 2015 governorship election in Kogi State, had been upgraded in the build-up to the 2019 ballot.
At his official declaration to return to the All Progressives Congress (APC) along with over 2,000 of his supporters in his country home of Adeh in Olamaboro Council recently, Adejoh said that the party “is just like the leopard that does not change its spot.”
He revealed that he was lured back to the PDP, which he helped found, with the leaderss’ promise to jettison their old ways of impunity and imposition of candidates for participatory democracy where the voice of the people is allowed to prevail.
