Draws for 13th Bankole Olumide Aluko tourney hold Wednesday
DRAWS for the 13th Bankole Olumide Aluko Football Tournament (BOA), also known as Lawyers’ League, will hold Wednesday at the AstroTurf 2000, Ikoyi, Lagos, the organisers have announced
According to the organisers of the competition held annually in memory of the late notable lawyer, Bankole Olumide Aluko, a founding partner in the firm of Aluko & Oyebode (A & O), 15 teams have so far confirmed their participation in this year’s edition of the event.
The competition kicks on March 1 at the same venue with 2014 champions, Lagos State Ministry of Justice, battling 14 others to retain their crown.
Babalakin & Co and Probitas Partners/B. Ayorinde & Co, which finished in the second and third positions respectively last year, are also in the running for the crown this year. The teams would play in a round robin format in two groups.
The firms confirmed for the competition, according to the organisers, are Kemi Pinheiro & Co., Banwo & Ighodalo, Olisa Agbakoba, Babalakin & Co., Probitas Partners/B. Ayorinde & Co., Lagos State Ministry of Justice, Aluko & Oyebode, Tayo Oyetibo & Co., Bayo Osipitan & Co., Falana & Falana and Aelex Partners.
Others include Rickey Tarfa & Co., Olajide Oyewole LLP., Tokunbo Orimobi LP., and Udo-Udoma & Belo Osagie.
Over the last seven years, Astro Soccer Nigeria Ltd, owners of AstroTurf 2000 football facilities, have hosted and managed the tournament, forming a partnership with Aluko & Oyebode to professionalise the planning, features and organisation that a successful tournament involving the top Law firms in Nigeria deserves.
