Erico warns against complacency

SUPER Eagles Coach, Sunday Oliseh, believes Tunisia is a big threat against Nigeria’s quest to win its first African Nations Championship (CHAN) trophy, but he also says his boys can beat the Carthage Eagles.

Nigeria will meet Tunisia in their second game of then on-going CHAN with the winner one step to the second round of then competition.

Nigeria defeated Niger Republic 4-1 in their first game, while Tunisia drew 2-2 with Guinea.

Speaking during the pre-match press conference yesterday,
Oliseh said the Tunisians were highly placed to beat Nigeria, but assured that his players will put up a good fight.
Comparing the level of development of both leagues, Oliseh said the Tunisian league boast top quality players who rather than go after the glamour of European football choose to stay back and help their league develop.

“The Tunisians are the favourites because they have a great league and players,” Oliseh said. “I am not saying we are inferior to Tunisia, don’t get me wrong.

“The Tunisians press feels Nigeria has the big money to run football. I am not going to allow my players to be under undue pressure.

“We look at the FIFA ranking and we know where we are. My players are very young and we are taking it game-by-game

“I don’t want to burden my players or myself about the game, we just want to build a formidable team for our country and that is exactly what we are doing.”

Also speaking on today’s game, Tunisia manager, Hatem Masoui, said he has the anti-dote to Nigerian danger man, Chisom Chikatara, saying he is not focused on the Abia Warriors star, who scored three goals against Niger Republic.
