After General Gamal Abdel Nasser overthrew the corrupt government of King Farouk of Egypt in 1952, the General who laid the foundation of modern Egypt declared that, before he struck, he realised that there was a role in Egypt waiting for an actor and all he did was just simply to fulfill that role.
Any discerning observer would know that for a long time, there has been and still exists a role in Nigeria and in Africa in search of an actor.
In the course of his current roadshow, the American billionaire who is getting rave reviews in entertainment circles as a Republican Party front-runner Donald (Sitcom) Trump had this to say:-
Africans are lazy, good at sex, theft.
U.S presidential aspirant – Donald Trump
Speaking in Indianapolis, Donald Trump who is also the Republican Presidential torch-bearer, reiterated his promise to deport Africans, especially those of Kenyan origin, including their son Barack Obama.
“African-Americans are very lazy. The best they can do is gallivanting around ghettos lamenting on how they are discriminated against.
“These are the people America doesn’t need. They are the enemies of progress. Look at African countries like Kenya and Nigeria for instance. These people are stealing from their own governments and go to invest the money in foreign countries.
“From the government to opposition, they only qualify to be used as a case study whenever bad examples are required. How do you trust even those who have run away to hide here in the United States, hiding behind education? I hear they abuse me in their blogs but I don’t care because even the Internet they are using is ours and we can decide to switch off from this side. These are people who import everything including matchsticks.
“In my opinion, most of these African countries ought to be recolonised again for another 100 years because they know nothing about leadership and self-governance,”explained Trump as he illuminated how he plans to reconstruct America and restore its lost glory.
“I promise to make America great again by restoring our dignity that we have since lost through Obama. The more reason why I still believe that he and his Kenyan brothers and sisters should be deported back to Kenya to make America safe.” Do we blame him?
The black man belongs to the only racial group that is left to register himself in the galaxies of the Achievers of the world. We produce what we don’t consume – and we consume what we don’t produce.
The white or pink man has discharged himself as an achiever through his achievements in North America, in Europe and Australia. The Oriental man has discharged himself with great commendation through his achievements in Japan, in South Korea, in Hong Kong and now the land of the great bears – China, even in Taiwan.
The Middle Eastern has regained his pride through the dazzling “mind over matter” achievements of Dubai and the United Arab Emirates. How can one but stagger by merely contemplating the immortal words of Sheik Al-Mahktoun of Dubai, the Ruler of Dubai who said – “With each day in Africa, a gazelle wakes up knowing that he must outrun the fastest lion or perish. At the same time, a lion stirs and stretches knowing that he must outrun the fastest gazelle or starve. It is no different for the human race. Whether you consider yourself a gazelle or a lion, you simply have to run faster than others to survive.”
“ Life consists of a number of opportunities and great opportunities do not come knocking on people’s doors. Whoever wants such opportunities must grab them when they arise for his people and for himself. We have to be powerful, strong-willed, determined and willing to grasp such opportunities so that we do not have to scavenge the leftovers of lions. I will never abandon one opportunity and wait for another.”
After having been scattered all over the world for 2,000 years and their language having become practically extinct, in the year 1897, Theodor Herzl convened the first Zionist Congress in Basel, Switzerland to investigate the formation of a Jewish homeland. The One Single Man, who grabbed a role that for 2,000 years has been waiting for an actor revolutionised the entire world, led to a forceful return of the Jews to the Middle East and inspired a people than even though the Jews constitute approximately 0.2 per cent of the world’s population, yet between 1901 and 2015, 22 per cent of all Nobel Laureates have been Jewish – a role waiting for an actor.
Where are we in Africa? Currently, making its rounds in the social media is a video presentation that merits a Nobel Laureate in the depths of human depravity. This is a report about a challenge to President Yoweri Muzereni, a man who has been President of Uganda since 1986. Prior to that, he had been involved in the rebellion that toppled Idi Amin (1977-79) and Milton Obote (1980-85).
According to reports: Uganda Police stripped female opposition leaders naked while arresting them to serve as a deterrent to others.
Uganda Police Commander Kale Kayihura reportedly stripped leading female opposition party leaders and 5 other of their supporters aged between 50-56 years naked publicly while arresting them to serve as a deterrent to others. It is one of the most nauseating postings that you can see on YouTube. It is raw horror!
Zaina Fatuma, a member of the Forum for Democratic Change’s (FDC) National Executive Committee, along with others were stripped and manhandled while being arrested by Police at Kanyaryeru in Kiruhura.
The Police had blocked the party’s presidential flag-bearer Dr. Kizza Besigye along the Maska-Mbarara highway from proceeding to Rukungiri where he was expected to hold a rally.
The question is –Why should state resources be used in this manner just to protect the selfish need of anybody? Why should the Police allow themselves to be used this way by greedy politicians in order to protect selfishness and greed?
In Rwanda, the Constitution had to be changed so that President Paul Kagame who has been in power since year 2000 could contest again for the third time – and in Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe would most likely still be in office during the second coming of Jesus Christ.
The prayer is that the wind of change that started in Ivory Coast with the forced exit from power of Laurent Gbagbo and has now landed in Tanzania will sweep all over Africa in the not too distant future.
The following is a report of the waves being currently made by the newly elected President of Tanzania-President John Magufuli.
A role waiting for an actor:
New Tanzanian President John Magufuli makes radical changes
Tanzania’s new President John Pombe Magufuli addressed members of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi Party (CCM) at the party sub-head office on Lumumba Road, in Dar-es-Salaam on October 30, 2015.
According to Rueters’ correspondent Emmanuel Herman, President Magufuli has scrapped Independence Day celebrations to spend the money on a clean-up campaign an official statement said. The President has instead decreed that on that day, everybody should pick up their tools and clean their backyards.
“It is so shameful that we are spending huge amounts of money to celebrate 54 years of independence when our people are dying of Cholera.” Magufuli said in a statement read on state television.
Last weekend, the Tanzanian parliament was going to open and there was a state dinner planned for all guests that was going to cost about 300 million shillings.
President Magufuli cut the budget to 25 million shillings and ordered that the rest be taken to buy hospital beds and mattresses and 600 bed sheets.
On Saturday, November 21, 2015, a group of 50 people were about to set off on a tour of Commonwealth countries but President Magufuli cut the list to four people saving government 600 shillings in tickets, accommodation and per diems.
It is said that when Magufuli was confirmed the winner of the Presidential election, people started to congratulate him and sent gifts to him which he turned back saying he would receive all congratulations over the phone and that nobody should visit him.
The President’s other austerity measures include:
No more foreign travel. Embassies will take note! If it is necessary to go, special permission must be sought from him or the Chief Secretary.
No more First class and Business class travel for all officials except the president, vice president and prime minister. No more workshop seminars in expensive hotels when there are so many ministry boardrooms available.
President Magufuli asked how come engineers are given V8s when pick-ups are more suitable for their jobs. No more sitting allowances. How the hell are you paid allowances for a job for which you have a monthly salary? That also applies to Members of Parliament.
All individuals that bought state companies that were privatised but haven’t done anything (20 years later) are either to revive the industries immediately or hand them back to government.
Tanzanians say that President Magufuli has literally pressed the reset button returning Tanzania to default factory settings which was what the late Tanzanian President Julius Nyerere left.
On the day after he was brought to power, as State House officials were showing him round, he decided to take a walk to the Ministry of Finance, told the government workers to get their acts together. He asked why some employees weren’t in offices and ordered the TRA to scrap all tax exemptions. Everyone must pay taxes, especially the big people.
President Magufuli went to Muhinbili Hospital, unannounced and walked through the worst parts that they have always kept hidden from the important visitors and fired the director, the hospital board and ordered that all machines that weren’t working (so that people could go to private hospitals) to be repaired within two weeks otherwise, he would fire even the new director. The machines were repaired in three days.
Finally, last week when going to officially open parliament, President Magufuli didn’t go by plane. He drove the whole 600km from Dares Salaam to Dodoma. President Magufuli has reduced the size of the Presidential convoy, even reduced the size of the presidential delegation that travels with him.
The Tanzanian new leader chose a Prime Minister most have never heard of before – a man with a reputation for hard work and no corruption. All the big guys Tanzanians expected would be PM have been left wondering what hit them. https//www.lusakatimes.com/2015/11/26 new-tanzanian president-John magufuli makes radical changes
The world’s longest ocean bridge is located in China. It spans 26 miles and took four years to build. It cost more than $1.5 billion to complete and has a life expectancy of 100 years.
The second Niger bridge in Onitsha that is a mere 1.5 kilometres (about one mile) is costing N100 billion , that is over $500 million.
Maybe we should invite the Chinese to come and build the fourth Lagos Mainland Bridge for us and let us pay tolls for 100 years.
The same China built 30,000 megawatts of electricity for $29 billion while we have spent over $50 billion on darkness.
The Chinese have approximately 3.35 million kilometres of first class motorable public roads, while Nigeria has built 34,340.90 kilometres of semi-motorable public roads in 56 years.
Also currently circulating in the internet is the claim that – “It costs N290m a year to maintain each member of our National Assembly in a country where 80 per cent of the population earns below N300 a day.
A working day earning of a senator is more than the yearly income of a doctor. It is more than the salary of 42 Army generals or 48 professors or 70 Commissioners of Police or more than two times the salary of an American President or nine times the salary of a U.S Congress man.”
When are we going to begin to run the race for development – physical, mental and spiritual? Where and who is our actor?
Whither the black man? Wither Nigeria? One out of every four black people in the world today is a Nigerian. It therefore, stands to reason that if the black man is to achieve respectability in the comity of nations, it is the responsibility of Nigeria to accept the challenge.
It is as if there is a divine positioning of Nigeria for this role through the great blessings that Nigeria has received from God Almighty Himself.
With a population that must now be getting close to 200 million. (One of our problems is that we are, for political reasons unable to have a nationally acceptable census figure.)
