Man United Join Race For Musa
Golden Eaglets’ Captain, Kelechi Nwakali, wants to emulate Nwankwo Kanu by wearing Arsenal No.25 shirt, reports London’s Evening Standard.

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger, has confirmed that the London club has reached agreement to sign Nwakali and Samuel Chukwueze before the transfer window shuts this weekend.

Both Nwakali and Chukwueze were stars of the Under-17 World Cup-winning Nigeria side, with 17-year-old attacking midfielder Nwakali earning the player of the tournament award.

Neither are expected to become immediate members of the first-team even if they sign in January, however Nwakali has no doubt he will be a part of Wenger’s plans in the future.

“I am going to Arsenal to work and try to be the best I can. With God anything is possible, to work hard to justify my claim for first team football,” he told a local website on Thursday.

Nwakali would not be the first Nigerian to appear in an Arsenal shirt and the youngster said he has already asked to wear the currently-vacant No.25 shirt of club legend Nwankwo Kanu.

The 39-year-old, a member of the great young Nigerian side that won gold at the 1996 Olympics, played under Wenger between 1999 and 2004.

A member of the Invincibles side Kanu scored 44 goals in 197 games for Arsenal, earning his place in the list of the 50 Greatest Gunners in 2008.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have entered the race to sign CSKA Moscow striker, Ahmed Musa, reports London’s Daily Express.
The Nigeria captain has this month been linked with Premier League rivals, Leicester, who are thought to have had rejected their £15.1million opening bid.

CSKA are reportedly holding out for at least £18.9m for the pacey striker, who has 10 goals to his name this term. The Foxes are expected to up their bid before the January window expires, but now face competition from United for the 23-year-old’s services.

The Red Devils have scored the least amount of goals out of the top eight teams in the Premier League this season and Louis van Gaal is desperate to add more fire power to his front line.

While Leicester boss, Claudio Ranieri, has made no secret of his desire to sign a striker to boost his side’s title bid after loaning out Andrej Kramaric to Fiorentina.

The Italian said: “It’s important to have two players for every position. Our strength is to play with high intensity.

“It’s not possible to play with that intensity for all the season. So I would like another striker to give support to the other three.

“Everyone is reinforcing now, taking players because they want to save their season or they want to win something.
“We want to maintain this position. I know it’s difficult, but we must try. This is a strange league. The big teams are not at the top, but there is Leicester – unbelievable.”
