Tasks FG On Lassa Fever
DELTANS based in the United States of America have condemned, in very strong terms, the gruesome murder of the traditional ruler of Ubulu-uku Kingdom, Delta State, Obi Akaeze Edward Ofulue III, by kidnappers.
Reacting to the incident, the Delta-born Atlanta Georgia-based medical practitioner, Dr. Isioma Okobah, described the brutal murder of the king as a taboo, saying such was alien to the Anioma nation.
Okobah called on security agencies to unravel the remote and immediate circumstances surrounding the incident, adding that the state government should come up with more aggressive security measures to stem future occurrence.
While condoling with the Ubulu-Uku people over the incident, she prayed God to give the Obi-in-council and the immediate family of the late King the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
On the outbreak of Lassa fever in parts of the country, Okobah called on the Federal Ministry of Health to adopt a more proactive approach in containing the spread of the disease, insisting that a sensitisation campaign designed to educate the people on the need to imbibe a more hygienic life style and good sanitary habits should be encouraged.
She admonished Nigerians to report any suspected case of the ailment to appropriate medical authorities for immediate attention.
