Blue House reigns at Beehive School Inter-House Sports

Blue House has emerged the 2016 champions at the Beehive School inter-house sports competition held at the school’s sports ground at the weekend.

The house came tops with a total of 25 medals consisting of eleven gold, nine silver and five bronze medals.
 
The event, which witnessed a large turnout of parents and invited guests, saw Yellow House in second place with 25 medals made up of ten gold, eight silver and seven bronze medals while Red House came in at third position with ten gold, eight silver and six bronze medals. Former champions, Green House, ended up in pole position with 23 medals consisting of one gold, seven silver and fifteen bronze medals.
 
The sports competition saw pupils take part in various track and field events such as the 25 metres and 50 metres race for the nursery section while the primary pupils took part in the 100metres and relay races, high jump, sack race and filling the basket event.
 
It was an atmosphere of fun and excitement as invited guests participated in schools relay, parents’ race and grandparents’ race. In her address at the occasion, proprietress and Head Teacher of Beehive School, Mrs. Latifat Dosunmu called on corporate bodies to encourage children to develop healthy and active lifestyles by supporting school sports.
 
She stressed the importance of sports in the development children’s team and leadership skills and called on well-meaning organisations to adopt both public and private schools in the area of sports facilities provision as a part of their corporate social responsibility programmes.
