Wants coach to submit programme
for game against Egypt
A member of the Technical Committee of Nigeria Football Federation, Christian Chukwu, has said the committee is still waiting for coach Sunday Oliseh to submit his programmes for the 2017 Afcon qualifiers against the Pharaohs of Egypt. The double-header game will hold next month.
Speaking to The Guardian at the weekend, Chukwu stated that having the programme early would afford the team handlers and the players have the best preparations ahead the qualifiers without hitches.
He explained that it would not augur well for Nigerian football if the Technical Committee continues to duel on the country’s early exit from CHAN and other matters arising from the championship without focusing on the double-header game against Egypt.
The former Harambee Stars of Kenya coach disclosed that the Technical Committee was ready to work with the Eagles manager provided he carries the committee along in all activities of the Super Eagles.
Chukwu however, denied the allegation that the committee is out to witch hunt Oliseh, assuring that the committee was poised to assist him.
“The NFF technical committee has resolved to work with Oliseh. This is to afford all parties focus on the important Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Egypt. We are still waiting for the coach to send his programmes to us ahead of the game. This is the only way we can give the necessary advice as the team prepares for the match. Egypt is a strong team in African football and the Super Eagles need the best of preparation to beat them.
“With the situation on ground for now, I can not tell you if the team will play any warm up game before the qualifier or not. Oliseh has to brief us on his plans for the game. If the coach refuses to send his programme, then we will think of the next step to take. Oliseh is still the Super Eagles coach and the Technical Committee is ready to work with him,” he said.
