The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai, yesterday warned his officers against leaking classified information through social media platforms.

He gave the warning while opening a five-day workshop on “Army Officers’ Office Management and Document Security” at 1 Division of the Nigerian Army in Kaduna.

The COAS reminded the participants that the military had extant policy that prohibits the use of social media for information disclosure.

Represented by Director of Administration at the Army headquarters, Maj.-Gen. Kuta Isyaku, Buratai maintained that the force’s cyber warfare command had the capacity to monitor and deal effectively with a wide range of issues, including management of the social media.
